Black Honors Day

In a celebration of the achievements of the many of Black students who have maintained exceptional grades and contributed to the university, the BFSA hosts a Black Honors Day. Attended by hundreds of students and their parents, the event occurs in the Spring Semester during University Honors Week. Some of the scholarships available to students are:

Vivian Malone Jones Endowed Scholarship: 

Awarded by the BFSA to the Junior with the Highest Academic Standing in Honor of the First Black Graduate of the University of Alabama.

Autherine Lucy Foster Endowed Scholarship: 

Awarded by the BFSA to a sophomore in honor of the first black student to attend

The University of Alabama.

The James Hood Award 

The recipient must be 25 years of age or older, demonstrate good academic achievement and be a person who has triumphed over formidable odds.
